Great Support Again From Irish American Unity Conference

Thank you once again to the Irish American Unity Conference (IAUC).

The Irish American Unity Conference (IAUC), the internationally renowned non-profit organisation working for justice and peace in Ireland, has again recognised the work of Paper Trail with a donation to the charity.

Paper Trail gets great support from PEACEPLUS and Victims and Survivors Service but this additional support from the IAUC is massive to our charity.

Paper Trail is a micro-charity and Ciarán MacAirt its sole employee, so it does not have the capacity or financial resources of larger charities and NGOs supporting victims and survivors of the conflict in Ireland and Britain.

Our work for families impacted by the violence involves mainly discovering evidence buried in secret archives across the two countries and battling to access information from the state via the likes of Freedom of Information.

This is laborious, time-consuming and costly work but it provides ground-breaking and life-changing information for families across the community that have been failed by the state.

Watch the summary review of our work over the last decade in the video below. Listen to Ciarán discuss IAUC's support here.

ShSo, we have to squeeze the value out of every penny and innovate to ensure I can continue to do the work that I do as effectively and efficiently as possible.

And that is why this gift from the IAUC means much more to Paper Trail and makes my work much easier.

Immediately, Paper Trail can pay for basic operational costs that mount up, innovative software, and a research trip on behalf of families to The National Archives in London.

Many thanks too to those people who have bought my second book Trope: Essays and Articles and who subscribed to my Substack, Paper Trail Pro, as I donate these funds directly to Paper Trail.

Again, every penny and pound has been critical to our ongoing work with victims and survivors.

Peter C. Kissel, National President of the IAUC said:

“Our members are proud to be able to support Paper Trail in seeking truth and justice for victims and their families in the North of Ireland.  This is in recognition of Paper Trail exposing the crimes against civilians committed by the British state and its agents.”

Chair of Paper Trail, Sinéad Ní Mhurchú, thanked the IAUC for its recognition of Paper Trail’s work with victims and survivors and the generous gift. She said:

“Paper Trail is a micro-charity and may not have the reserves and capacity of larger organisations, so support from such an august human rights non-profit as the Irish American Unity Conference gives Paper Trail a massive boost. IAUC’s great gift also takes enormous pressure off the charity, and allows us to concentrate on the most important work we do – supporting victims and survivors of the conflict in Ireland and Britain.”

ABOUT PAPER TRAIL

Paper Trail is a registered charity and social enterprise. We offer free advocacy and training to victims and survivors of the conflict in Ireland and Britain. You can learn about our services here.

Key components of the work we do includes legacy archive research and recording lived history. Legacy archives are those files of information in public records pertaining to the conflict.

We find information buried for decades and ensure it reaches the people who need it most - victims and survivors.

Paper Trail helps them piece together and tell their stories.

Paper Trail is also harnessing the power of internet technology in order to teach what it know to families and tell its own story.
