Civilian B, Mass Killing

Background:

Civilian B was one of a number of victims of a mass killing by the British Army.

Context:

The state publicized that all of the dead civilians were gun men and that Civilian B was a gun woman. Every local witness disputed these accusations.

The families are unhappy with the original investigation and subsequent historical investigations.

Paper Trail:

The archives we found trace the formulation of disinformation. Significantly for Civilian B’s family, we discovered papers which admit that she was an innocent victim. This contrasts starkly with the state’s subsequent attempts to criminalize her.

Impact:

The archives Paper Trail presented to the families and their legal representatives will now be aired at the re-opened inquests into the killings.
